A "Cozy" Night in Lansing MI
My wife and I celebrated our 12th wedding anniversary last month and I wanted to get away for a night and have a little staycation in Lansing. After 9 years of wedded bliss I thought it was time to do something nice. We researched staying at a downtown hotel as we wanted to walk to dinner and around the Riverfront area. My wife reminded me that I had purchased a one night stay at a local Bed and Breakfast through a Women's Council of Realtor's Auction that we hadn't used.

Enter Cozy Koi Bed & Breakfast located at 720 Seymour Ave, Lansing MI 48906. The owner Diane was great to work with and so very friendly. I'm not going to lie my wife was a little hesitant when I said the house was downtown Lansing. We were not disappointed, this property is AMAZING!
The property actual has two houses with the original main house as well as a "Cottage" house to the South that was acquired a few years ago. I believe there were a total of 7 rooms between the two houses. From small single bedrooms to the full suites. Behind the "Cottage" house is a one of a kind grass parking lot for the guests and garden with a Koi pond behind the main house.

We stayed in the "Cottage" house to the South in a main floor suite called the "African Room" with our own private entrance (this is actually a handicap accessible room) and bath. After settling in we relaxed for a few minutes in the living room before heading downtown for our evening.
We enjoyed a great evening in Downtown Lansing we started with a quick stop to Edmund's Pastime for an "Adult" shake (If you haven't tried one they are amazing). After our happy hour stop we headed on down to our dinner reservation at The Soup Spoon Cafe. I have been a fan for many years but never visited for dinner service. We had a fantastic dinner and I would highly recommend it to anyone that has not yet been.

Our evening finished off with a nightcap at the new Taps 25 "Downtown Lansing's Beer Bar" and a short walk back through downtown and the Riverfront back to our room.
Breakfast on Sunday morning was served in the Main house dining room and was delicious including freshly picked raspberries from the garden. We enjoyed the company of Diane and the other guests one of whom has stayed annually while in town for several years.
The next time you are looking for something fun to do don't forget that Lansing has more to offer than meets the eye. If you take the time to look into the history small businesses of our great town you'll find many wonderful hidden gems like the Cozy Koi B&B! Oh yea don't forget to check out the fish in the Koi pond behind the main house. Its not called the Cozy Koi just for fun!
Cheers,
Rob
